Kuršėnai is the largest town in Šiauliai district, where pottery traditions are cherished. That is why Kuršėnai Town is called the capital of Lithuanian potters. After all – 9 pot kings have been elected here. It’s no accident that the pottery traditions appeared in Kuršėnai – the town was founded on a very clayey soil. If speaking about stones, various minerals and stones can be found in Kuršėnai and the surrounding areas, which can be of interest to geologists and nature lovers. The stones are often used in construction, and some ore resources from this district also have commercial value. Moreover, stones and rocks are culturally important as they symbolize local history and traditions. For example, stone monuments and sculptures located in Kuršėnai tell about the past of the town and its inhabitants.
