Monument to Lithuanian Millennium
On 30 May 2009, during the celebration of Kuršėnai Town Day, a monument to commemorate the millennium of the first mention of Lithuania’s name was unveiled in the churchyard of Church of St John the Baptist. In the centre of the monument there is a grey granite stone, and Algirdas Liorentas, the citizen of Kuršėnai, attached a hand-forged metal sun to it. The inscription on the stone was carved by folk artist Stanislovas Kovėra.
