Stone Sculpture to Kuršėnai Potters
In the year 2017, the folk artist Stanislovas Kovėra presented his hometown Kuršėnai a unique sculpture “To Kuršėnai Potters”. This work symbolises a deep tradition of the town – ceramic craftsmanship. According to the artist, Kuršėnai is not only the capital of potters, but also their cradle, having trained many of the most famous potters and artists. The sculpture symbolises the eternal connection with this tradition, which has become part of the town’s identity. Pots are the “code” of Kuršėnai, helping to recognise the town throughout Lithuania and making it famous not only as a town of craftsmen, but also as a source of creativity that preserves the old craft culture.
