A nation without historical memory does not exist. The most prominent personalities who determined the development of events and had an impact on people's lifestyle remain in memory. Historical memory develops love for one's country, attachment, reminds us of who we are.
Laurynas Ivinskis, an educator, publisher, publicist, collector of folklore, botanist, lexicographer, inventor, poet and translator, compiler of the first Lithuanian calendar, spent the last years of his life in Kuršėnai - a city by the Venta river. We celebrate his 212th birth anniversary in 2022.
For many years, he published the only Žemaitian calendar, which became very popular and, as it were, represented the world press. The village people learned to read from the published calendar.
The tour consists of eight points: L. Ivinskis square with L. Ivinskis monument, L. Ivinskis grave, L. Ivinskis bas-relief in the L.
